Third Grade

Integrating basic skills and developing effective communication to become more independent problem solvers, and productive members of a team are important parts of the third grade experience. Third graders continue to develop communication skills that contribute to a learning environment based on respectful interactions that value the individual and encourage constructive collaboration. Themes for the year include The Ancient Mayan civilization, the Connecticut River watershed, Ancient Egypt, forensic science, United States geography and meteorology.  Interdisciplinary skills are immersed in all theme studies as students explore concepts, test ideas, research topics, and create artistic renderings to show understanding.
