Afternoon Preschool Assistant and Aftercare Coordinator - Starting Immediately
The Grammar School, an independent school located in Putney, Vermont, seeks an energetic and creative teacher for its preschool assistant and lower grades aftercare program. The Grammar School serves preschool (3 and 4 year olds) through eighth grade, with community, academics, outdoor exploration, and stewardship at the heart of the program.
The preschool assistant will work, starting after lunch and ending at 3 pm, with our lead preschool teacher to implement and build upon the preschool curriculum.
The aftercare teacher provides daily coverage from 3 - 5 pm for preschool - 2nd grade students in a mixed-age group. The aftercare program supports families in the TGS community by offering an extended day in a supportive, creative, and relaxing environment.
The aftercare teacher works with the Head of School to develop an afternoon curriculum consistent with TGS’s mission. The program offers a variety of activities including free play, outdoor activities, stories, and crafts.
This multifaceted position will be Monday through Friday, from 12:30 - 5:00 pm, starting immediately.
Qualifications: Must be18 years of age and have a high school degree. Must have 1 Year of experience working with children ages birth to 3rd grade AND one of the following:
- A CDA, Human Services Program Certificate that emphasizes child development or early childhood,
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals for Early Childhood Professionals’ course or the Vermont Afterschool Essentials Certificate or
- At least successful completion of a three (3) college credit course in child or human development or a three (3) college credit course for school age care and education and at least twelve months of experience working with children from grade three and under.
