The Grammar School (TGS) in Putney, Vermont held its 8th Grade commencement on Thursday, June 10th, 2010 attended by faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, grandparents and friends. The students arrived ceremoniously in two vintage Volkswagen microbuses and one VW Bug. After a class performance by the graduating students of “Never Gonna Give you Up” by Rick Astley (a reference to the internet meme “being Rick-Rolled”), Steve Lorenz, Head of School, welcomed the community.

The TGS faculty and staff presented a series of personal reflections on the graduates, and students individually delivered heartfelt poems and stories as well as dance and musical performances.

Lorenz and Elizabeth Olmsted, Chair of the TGS Board of Trustees, then awarded diplomas to the 16 graduates. Closing remarks were offered by graduate Roo Weed and the class closed with the song “All-Star” by Smashmouth.
